Fred Who – Part 2

Fred Karger ran for president in 2012, in the Republican primaries, the first openly gay candidate for a major-party nomination. Fourteen years later he has a podcast, and the promo for it turns him into a superhero: cape, flight, and a flying visit to his old rivals, one at a time, each getting their comeuppance. The story and the script came from Fred's side, written and locked before I saw them. The direction is mine, and so are the references, the generation and the edit. The hard part was keeping it photorealistic while the premise stayed goofy. A man flying over a debate stage has to look like it happened, and the faces in it have to be the real people, recognisably, in every single shot, same cape, same light, scene after scene. Likeness and continuity were the whole job. Audio was done in-house at 351 Studio.
